AThere’s no doubt that in the US evangelical Christians are the religious mainstream. Evangelical Christianity is the belief that Jesus was the Son of God and that believing in Him will save you a place in Heaven at the time when God destroys the Antichrist and all non-believers on Earth. Put more simply: God is going to destroy, then recreate the Earth as Heaven for the Christians. Since the Earth is destined to be the battle-ground of this ultimate war, from the Evangelical point of view, there really isn’t much reason to overly worry about how mankind affects the planet; since it’s going to be destroyed and rebuilt in the (always) near future anyway. Overpopulation, depletion of the nature resources, pollution, poverty, etc. are all just minor inconveniences when compared to this coming war.
But what does this have to do with The Gays?
Gays are part of evolution; one of nature’s ways to control the population of the human species on this planet. Being fruitful and multiplying may have been a good thing back when there weren’t as many humans and natural resources were more abundant, but Homo sapiens have long passed that threshold and modern technology is every day increasing mankind’s ill effects on the earth.
Technological advances also explain why there seems to be a larger percentage of gays in more advanced societies than in less developed ones. The modernized societies of the West have more efficient means for exploiting the environment. In less advanced cultures, disease, high birth mortality and the susceptibility of the population to death by natural disasters already does a fair job of keeping the population under control. In more technologically advanced societies there is better access to medicine, fertility drugs, sturdier buildings, etc., which lessen the earth’s nature defenses against overpopulation. To help balance these scientific advances the rise of homosexual behavior is necessary in nature (humans).
While it isn’t the most flattering comparison, homosexual behavior can be compared to disease, sterility, natural disasters, or even the homicidal nature of man itself. Most people have a rather chauvinistic opinion of anything that cuts back on the excess number of humans on the planet, but when you think about it, what else can nature do? It’s not like the earth can create extra living space and resources to accommodate the ever-increasing amount of people living on it. Homosexual behavior is perhaps the most benign way nature has to try to cut down on the ever-expanding human population.
Of course The Gays have a lot of other positive contributions to offer society in such fields as art, fashion, science and philosophy, but that really doesn’t matter to most mainstream Evangelicals. They instinctively understand that the basic purpose of homosexual life on the planet counters their belief in a God that is leading mankind to an ultimate conclusion, as opposed to a natural order that continues to keep the planet sustainable for generations to come. So in the end it’s difficult to determine who spends their lives living in a cocoon—those Christians who think that homosexuality is not natural, or those gay Christians who wish to join them there.
