Sabala’s Mt. Tabor is one of the hippest venues in Portland. Besides live music and a livelier bar, it also features a 90-seat, state of the art movie venue. Rock posters and art by local artists decorate the place. They even have yummy pizza by the slice and the “infamous Hot Wings.” Besides being a world-class mixologist, the bartender, Rose, also has immaculate taste in drinks, music, books and fashion.

After the hippy exorcism at the Mt. Tabor Pub location, Sabala’s is now the hottest new rock venue in Portland. What are some of the best shows that you have seen there recently? The Avengers in October, who are like a ‘70s punk band with a woman vocalist. High on Fire, heavy rock by some nice guys who are fun to party with. Are there any great weeklies at Sabala’s Mt. Tabor? Honky Tonk Tuesdays. The Texacutioners play almost every week. Are there ever any drink specials? Unfortunately, not really. Almost every Saturday, I come close to ripping my fingernails off from opening so many Pabst cans. One cool thing is that Sabala’s is trying to get huge four-person martini glasses to make a drink called the Hell Dorado. What are your favorite aspects of working at each bar?
