July means fireworks, great local music,
album release shows, a touring band here and there... and,
of course, potato salad..
Friday, July 1- Schoolyard Heroes, Mon Frere at
El Corazon
Schoolyard Heroes celebrate the release of their sophomore album,
"Fantastic Wound" with this all-ages show. As
evidenced on the album, lead singer Ryann Donnelly continues
to pack the punch that made the Heroes a force to be
reckoned with. Add on Mon Frere opening up, and the full
force of female vocals in the house will make 4th of July
fireworks seem tame..
Monday, July 18 - The Go! Team at Neumos
Just when we were missing my reservations about their moniker (Calvin
Johnson/Tobi Vail had an un-punctuated outfit by the name of
the Go Team back in the 1980s), their infectious
action-adventure inspired theme songs doused our flames of
crotchety PacNW elitism. With nods to the BMX Bandits and
the Avalanches, this Brighton, UK six-piece will make Neumos
home to the hippest sampledelic beach party ever!.
Friday, July 22 - Wesafari, Levi Fuller & the
Library, Water Kill the Sun, Infomatik at the Sunset Tavern
Infomatik's debut full-length release "Technologies" will
singe your ears with its dark, nearly mechanized voices and
catchy electronic beats gliding over frenzied percussion.
The energy of their live show is near maniacal..
