Josh is everything a bartender should be—calm, cool and collected. Tending bar at the newly opened Lottie’s Lounge, Josh makes a fine mint julep. Lottie’s is a small, intimate bar that has quickly become our favorite Columbia City watering hole. Go there before it gets too crowded..

What’s your favorite drink to make?
Maker’s Manhattan or any sort of pure martini.

What’s the best thing about working at a new bar?
A new bar or a nude bar?

New bar, naughty boy.
It doesn’t have anyone’s funk on it.

What’s the strangest bar request you’ve ever received?
I had a person ask me for a $11 glass of cabarnet and to add ice to it, along with 7-UP, shot of vodka and three cherries.

What would you say is the fashion statement of Columbia City?
It’s a little bit of everything—a lot of jeans and t-shirts and khaki and button-ups. Lots of Dickies and Ben Davis too.

Who would you want to have a drink with and why?
Tom Waits, ‘cause he’s Tom Waits.

What’s your bartender pet peeves?
When 21-year-old kids tell me that I made a drink wrong.
