arrowRock  THE SASQUATCH FESTIVAL —What do the Shins, the Roots, Thievery Corporation, Built to Spill, Cat Power, the Black Keys, Sleater-Kinney and the Postal Service all have in common? Not much, except they’re all playing the Sasquatch Festival May 29 at the Gorge in Washington. Yes, we know, festivals are for dirty hippies and frat boys, but this one is different. Hopefully... Check hob.com/sasquatch for the complete details.

arrowDrink  THE MIRABEAU ROOM —The newly opened Mirabeau Room (529 Queen Anne Avenue N, Seattle) occupies the spot of the beloved and departed Sorry Charlie’s. Owned by the same people as the Showbox and several local music industry types, the Mirabeau Room will no doubt be a fun place to hang out. With its ultra modern lounge aesthetic, the venue will have one space showcasing the best electronic mixers while the other space will retain the allure of the old Sorry Charlie’s. They even got Howard Bulson, the legendary piano man, to perform Monday through Friday from 4:30-7:30pm. What could be better?.

arrowActivate  SATURDAY & SUNDAY, MAY 15 & 16
In this modern age of slick multi-billion dollar political campaigns and mass media propaganda, it is hard to believe that art can change the world. But many of us know better. The Art of Resistance Conference should be inspiring and empowering. From May 15-16, the conference will be filled with films, music, spoken word and theater. Each day will include 12 to 15 workshops on printing techniques, research, street theater, writing, film and much more. There is a sliding scale registration fee of $30, and food is provided. For more information visit riseup.net/artofresistance. The Art of Resistance Political Artists Conference is at the Arts Brewery, 3100 Airport Way S, Seattle.

arrowWear  DON'T BE ASSY—Looks like spring has sprung and for many of you that means tank tops, flip flops, and a carefree attitude. But can we calm down a little bit on the showing off of the midsection? I mean hey, I like seeing some cute tummy from time to time but do we really gotta be showing off the asscrack, too? I swear to god the next asscrack I see I’m gonna shove a penny in it and make a wish!!! It’s everywhere, and I can’t understand it!!! So hey people... give those low risers a yank upwards and leave something to the imagination. Mystery can be cool, y’all!!!
