The mighty Wildrose has been a staple in Seattle for the longest time. As the only ladies bar in Seattle, it’s been an oasis for lesbians seeking a fun and safe space to party and play. Their pride celebration has always been way cooler than any other queer space, with loud music, boisterous women and a fun sensibility. We don’t just hang out there to play Touch Crack! (And check their awesome Pride Week events!)

 

How long have you worked here?
Five years.

How long has this bar been serving the ladies of Seattle?
We are turning 20 next year!

How do you spot a hook-up?
I don’t pay any attention; it’s not that entertaining.

What events does the Wildrose have during Pride week?
On Monday night, a pool tournament; Tuesday, Seattle Spit; Wednesday, Karaoke Pride; Thursday, Burlesque show; Friday, Wet t-shirt contest & DJ Amateur; Saturday, Beer garden and seven bands (Butchies, #13 Baby, Stormy & Her Balls, Rotten Apples, Amazombies, The Catch); and on Sunday, Vancouver Drag Kings.

What is the Wildrose’s most popular night?
Wednesday night Karaoke is really popular. We also have it every other Friday night.

What is the best part about working at the Wildrose?
The staff. A lot of us have worked here a long time. They are great.

Is there any new lesbian lingo that you have heard while working?
"Touch Crack"—the touch screen games. They are addicting.
