Three is the Magic Number Three Kick-Ass Things From Three Imaginary Girls

Thursday, 3/03 - Junior Brown at the Tractor TavernJunior Brown makes country music for people who don't like country music, perhaps because he masks his modern day twang in a dust cloud of the nostalgic Country Western of yesteryear. He's even invented his own instrument: a standard six-string guitar/steel guitar hybrid which he has coined the “guit-steel.” At a distance the guit-steel looks like some kind of oversized letter opener, but in his hands, it sure doesn't sound like one.

Friday, 3/18 - The Decemberists & Okkervil River at the ShowboxOkkervil River permeate their songs with earnestness that borders on sensual. They wear their hearts on their sleeves so unabashedly; it almost feels naughty to watch. But go watch-and listen.

Wednesday, 3/23 - Graham Coxon at Chop SueySeeing Graham Coxon in a venue smaller than the Showbox is the thing that indie-rock anglophile dreams are made of. Whether or not you've followed his post-Blur career, this is a show not to be missed. Coxon’s blend of muddy jagged folk and stripped down electric blues separates itself from the hyped über-influenced product coming from the other side of the Atlantic these days. Sure, he likely won't break out into "Coffee and TV," but he will play something that, if it took place in a small London café, would be a headline in NME. And that is reason enough to be there.

Three Imaginary Girls cover tons of local music and host live events, from music showcases to rockstar karaoke. Check out threeimaginarygirls.com for more info.
