Traveling alone can be daunting for some—it is not the easiest thing to do, and it’s certainly not the cheapest way to travel. However, it can often be the most liberating. Being in a foreign city or country alone, having no one to rely on except for yourself, forces you to do things you might normally resist—talk to strangers, eat alone, get a popcorn for one at a movie, or even stroll through a museum all by yourself...MORE

Poor Man's Paradise

Traveling can sometimes seem like a daunting venture, especially to those of us whose pocketbooks are, well, lighter than we would hope them to be. Of course, flying first class to an exotic city where we have reservations for a penthouse suite in a plush hotel would be something we wouldn't complain about—but the thrifty among us can travel just as well, even if it does mean sacrificing gold-plated bathroom fixtures and lobster tails for dinner every night. Our intrepid and frugal reporters flew to Las Vegas, Vancouver, San Francisco and New York to find out just how one can travel on a limited budget and come away with a vacation to remember. We may be poor, but we can still find paradise.

What makes someone leave their homeland to adventure in a new culture? For some it’s a taste for the unknown, the excitement that comes with being in a new and unfamiliar place. For others it's simple boredom with the usual. This is, of course, discounting practical reasons like education or economics. (See, messy too!)...MORE

There are a million musical acts out there vying for the attention of disaffected youth. Teenagers are a much-sought after demographic—they have disposable income and are easily susceptible to branding that could last their whole lives. Unfortunately for corporations trying to capitalize on these qualities, teenagers hate having things stuffed down their throats. And the Blood Brothers got to them first. ...MORE

Music on the go means packing up your band and gear into a cramped van and going on tour! Or in the case of Chicago’s Fourth Rotor, it recently meant touring Europe with fellow underground DIY band PAWNS. Together four years and veterans of many US and Canadian tours, this was Jake, Douglas and Kammy’s first time playing Europe. “This was something we’d all dreamed of doing. It was 55% fun, 45% aggravation, and we’ll definitely be going back!” ...MORE
