But I would have appreciated a bit more depth. Does Norris Church talk about Mailer's Jewishness, or his life- long effort to make himself over into an all- around macho- violence- loving stereotype? Does this fellow Makapolous bring in Jewish gangsters because there is not simply economic analysis, but ethnic- resentment in his book? Overall I would say there is much fluff and nonsense in the world of American popular culture that Josh Lambert would help a bit by telling us which of these books are really worthwhile for those who care about Jewish communal life.
