Vanessa Davis' most recent book, Make Me a Woman, includes many comic strips first published in Tablet Magazine. Her first collection of diary comics, Spaniel Rage, was published in 2005.

    This is so beautiful and inspiring. I once met Harvey Pekar at a comic event in Williamsburg. I inadvertantly stole his seat and he seemed relieved, as if he didn’t deserve it.

    Thanks for doing this Vanessa! It was great… I really dug Harvey’s stuff, especially his newer stuff like the Vietnam War book and Ego&Hubris. I totally remember that issue of American Splendor, I think I have it!

    Very touching, Vanessa. Got to admit the passing of “famous folks” rarely touches me but Harvey left me quite upset. The guy was one of a kind and your strip is a fitting tribute. Felt good to read it and realise I’m not the only person to hold him in such regard.
