Freegan Cool

Well, that’s a hard one. When I worked as a surveyor I would lots of neat stuff. It was my job, kind of. I’ve found the original drill holes in rock defining the great lots of New York where the land was carved up post revolution. I’ve found old apple orchards long overgrown at the intersections of stone walls piles by hand and roads abandoned in the construction of the interstate system. Once I found a baby crow and was able to give him back to his parents. Once I found a young rabbit and brought it home but took it back to the wild. I’ve found fossils and arrow heads in the woods of my home town and strange frequencies making noise on my fathers ham radio set late at nite. “Diamonds’ in Herkimer and garnet chips in the Adirondacks. I found the woman who would be my wife in Elmira 9 years ago this month and that might be the best thing I’ve ever found if not the most surprising.

I once found a rock that looked like a potato. I kept it for a while and then gave it to Bayley who prizes it very much. Bayley is six and lives in Mass. Liana, i wore an old coat and matching dress. It was authentic sixties couture very blue blood. Perfect for the Regals…

The most interesting thing I have ever done is herd goats. But I never herded them into a dumpster. Although maybe there is a connection: goats will eat anything, as will Freegans.

Actually, do Freegans eat anything? Or are they strictly fregetarian?

I ate seder once with my sister-in-law’s family. They are Ethiopian Jews. The food was so spicy. I cried not because of the charoset of the Egyptians, but because of the charoset of the Ethiopians.

It would be thoughtful of the Haredi community if they kept separate dumpsters of milk and meat so that the Freegans among them can practice their witchcraft and also not violate God’s law.
