This week, we’re ringing in 5777 with something new and a bit different: a mini-episode featuring three stories of growth, regeneration, and new beginnings told by each of our hosts. Mark Oppenheimer discusses how a failure his freshman year in college forced him to rethink his priorities and get a new life. Liel Leibovitz tells an old Hasidic tale of how to talk to God in the Days of Awe. Stephanie Butnick describes the freedom of a semester abroad.

We’ll be back next Thursday with a full-length episode—a special Yom Kippur show dedicated to apologies. You can listen to last year’s apology show here.

Unorthodox is a smart, fresh, fun weekly take on Jewish news and culture hosted by Mark Oppenheimer, Stephanie Butnick, and Liel Leibovitz. You can listen to individual episodes here or subscribe on iTunes.
