This week on Unorthodox: ‘Sports Illustrated’ Editor L. Jon Wertheim and Princeton professor Imani Perry, plus our very own Jewish name generator
This week on Unorthodox: Scottish Jews get their own official tartan.
Our Jewish guest is L. Jon Wertheim, executive editor of Sports Illustrated and the author, with Sam Sommers, of the new book This is Your Brain on Sports: The Science of Underdogs, the Value of Rivalry, and What We Can Learn From the T-Shirt Cannon. He tells us about the time former Mets outfielder Mookie Wilson called his son to congratulate him on his bar mitzvah, what he thinks the least-Jewish sports are, and what the L. in his name stands for.
Our Gentile of the Week is Imani Perry, a professor in the Center for African American Studies at Princeton. She tells us why she thinks the Democratic primary is divided along racial lines—and why Bernie Sanders should have more support from African American voters—plus what she really thinks of Drake.
