Norm Cone inadvertantly endorses Lopin’s (and mine, too – see above)cautions when he states “(I)f the Mossad did what it supposedly did…” and the Miller piece ” is an excellent summary of the facts or speculations known at the time of publication”. There is a tinge of doubt in Mr. Cone’s comments on the veracity of Judith Miller’s reporting. But there is no doubt that if the doubt isn’t doubtful, then there should be no doubt that the agents involved, provided there is no doubt that they are Mossad agents, be blessed, without doubt. Which means, the way I see it, if the agents involved turned out not to be Mossad, the blessings should be withdrawn, without doubt. Doubtless, people should step back from this operation until the truth is known. If the Israelis were not involved in this assassination, the effort to incriminate Israel is troubling. Without a doubt.

Beware of Yerachmiel Lopin. Judith Miller’s article is an excellent
summary of the facts or speculations known at the time of publication in Tablet. Lopins assertions, Israeli citizens whose passport was
used, will have trouble traveling abroad or even risk assassination, are pure crap. The British Embassy got already instructions to give their citizens new passports and nobody will be harmed. If the Mossad did what it supposedly did, may all the agents involved be blessed. They executed a killer and terrorist without causing harm to innocent bystanders and left Dubai. Of course such actions will be difficult in the future because of the CCTV cameras and security measures in all major airports.

Beware of Judith Miller. She was dismissed by the New York Times for snookering their editors and readers in the run up to the Iraq invasion. It turns out that her supposedly broad network of sources were quite narrow. She was serving as a mouthpiece for Cheney and his neo-con chevrah is insisting the case for WMDs was a “slam dunk.”

Now she is providing some interesting tidbits from Mossad but is also propagandizing for them.

She writes “Meanwhile, countries whose passports were used as cover for the Mossad agents have continued to feign outrage and go through the motions of protest.” In fact, each of the Israeli citizens whose passport is used will have trouble travelling abroad for the rest of their lives and will be at risk of assasination. This has been a real screw up and the Israli media is full of articles and editorials about this issue. But Miller, the consumate court toady conveniently omits those facts. I wish Tablet, a publication I admire, would divest itself of this discredited journalist, especially since this leper leopard has not changed her spots.

I am writing from Israel and I am so tired of this whole mess.All of this speculation “from foreign and unitentified sources” has got to stop.The truth is not known yet and may never be but in the meantime we are about to start Purim when thousands of children will be out in the streets and malls and all of this hype is making it much more dangerous for them.There is so much infighting for power in Hamas and Hezbollah it is only too easy for them to have done this and framed Israel,please talk about that.I hope the Mossad didn’t do this,the mistakes damage their James Bond image,and pushed us further into a pariah state.The mishaps involved point to other organizations and possibilities,why do you only speak of Israel.

Judith Miller points out Israel is carefully managing the flow of information, which is curious because so much information on the operation is being made public so soon after the incident, and this dissembling of information is not characteristic for the Israeli government. Also, the government has, officially, not commented on their role in the operation. Regardless of the moral, political or military arguments justifying Israel’s involvement, we only assume Israel’s participation. I know it is Judith Miller’s job to tap her resources and get the “facts” into print, but if she was being misinformed, it would not be the first time a source, official or otherwise, took advantage of her. The truth is, we still don’t know what happened in Dubai; just because the Israeli press is being spoon fed information doesn’t mean we are any closer to the truth. You begin to wonder if Israel is involved in a campaign of misinformation given the official policy of “tight censorship” and the timing of these leaks. We have not heard the final word on this deed.

what get’s me is that Dubai officials criticize a Hamas murderer for lax security. Needless to say I will never fly Emirates. If these sources indirectly back Hamas, they lose the moral high ground in this discussion. I have to assume that Emirates and Dubai back Hamas acquiring weapons from Iran and rocketing population centers with them.
