Cohen is not willing to face the animosity of the Arabs toward the State of Israel, and continues to operate as if the conflict is an error, a misunderstanding, and if only the two sides could explain their issues then peace is around the corner.

The US, in the extensive negotiations of President Clinton, Ross etc, attempted to broker a resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The history shows that Arafat was not willing to finalize a deal. Now, the Palestinian leaders are weaker and are not in any position to accept any thing that the Israelis realistically would offer. So, there is no deal possible now, no matter what the US wants or does.

'He runs the Institute for Middle East Peace and Development, which he founded, and he’s been working for 40 years to try to help resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict...'

Well, that may merit 10 out of 10 for persistence but, surely, it must mean minus several million for actual performance.
I really think the rest of us need a much quicker fix to the problem. And
here's one that might just do the trick.
