Today in Tablet and Sunday in Jersey

Today in Tablet Magazine, cartoonist Vanessa Davis celebrates her synagogue’s first female rabbi—40 years since Sally Priesand was ordained as America’s first woman Rabbi.

On a related note, Priesand will be on what sounds to be an awesome panel this Sunday with Rabbi Sandy Eisenberg Sasso (the first Reconstructionist woman rabbi), Rabbi Amy Eilberg (the first Conservative), and Rabba Sara Hurwitz (the first Orthodox). The panel is at Monmouth Reform Temple in Tinto Falls, New Jersey starting at 4 p.m. Tickets cost between $18 – $72 and can bought here.
