• There will be at least two Jews selected for baseball’s All-Star teams. The Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun is one, of course. The other is the Texas Rangers’ Ian Kinsler, currently leading all American League second basemen in voting for that position. [Kaplan’s Korner]

• It’s not just that a Jewish kid was selected seventh overall in the Major League Baseball draft. Max Fried a) played for the (gold medal-winning) 2009 Maccabiah team; b) wore Sandy Koufax’ #32—in homage to Koufax, mind you—while he c) competed for his high school, Harvard-Westlake. That’s gotta be some sort of trifecta. [JTA]

• As a reminder that flopping in basketball—taking exaggerated falls upon contact in order to draw foul calls against the other team—is both not new and extremely uncool, Deadspin dug up the following video of the great Red Auerbach, then president of the Boston Celtics (and a resident of Washington, D.C., home of the Bullets), demonstrating what flops are and explaining that they are lame (ahem).
