Each Monday, we choose the most interestingly Jewish announcement from that Sunday’s New York Times Weddings/Celebrations section. This week, in keeping with today’s theme of Jewish meritocracy giving way to occasional bouts of nepotism, all of the finalists gained their status through what I’ve always thought to be the most objectionable portion of the announcement: Parental accomplishments. But elbowing couples that include the daughter of the author of “The Kosher Carnivore” and the son of New York Times columnist (and former Jerusalem bureau chief) Clyde Haberman is this one, made up of Samantha Jill Leavitt and Jason Scott Goldstein. (They are, respectively, an event planner and an attorney.)

Leavitt’s parents carry the weight here: “The bride’s father was the creator and executive producer of many television series, most notably ‘Married … With Children,’ on Fox from 1987 to 1997.” Now there’s a representation of modern marriage to emulate. Here is a line from Al Bundy: “What was I thinking when I said ‘I do’? I’d already had sex with her; I didn’t need that again.” Unfortunately, the internet is still unresolved as to whether Katey Sagal, who played Peg Bundy, is Jewish.

Mazel tov to the happy couple!
