The Super Bowl of ‘Huppah Dreams’

A ‘Giant’ wedding to say the very least

Each Monday, we choose the most interestingly Jewish announcement from that Sunday’s New York Times Weddings/Celebrations section. Normally this would be a difficult task given the insane number of weddings that typically fall in mid-June, but not this week. No, the wedding of Carolyn Tisch Sussman and William Blodgett was actually THE Super Bowl of Huppah Dreams.

And what constitutes the Super Bowl of Huppah Dreams? Well for starters, the couple met at Yale. The rest is just a laundry list of overachievement and pedigree. The bride: an MBA from Harvard, a job at PepsiCo, daughter to a hedge fund chairman, stepdaughter to a Democrat congresswoman from Maine, and, of course, membership in the Tisch family—founders of the Loew Corporation and co-owners of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. Other institutions making an appearance in this bride’s section of the wedding announcement: Lincoln Center, Columbia University, The Whitney, Carnegie Hall, the Center for American Progress, Skidmore College, and the Portland Museum of Art.

The groom: my new arch-nemesis. Mazel tov to the happy couple!
