jacob_arnon says:

I just heard Obama’s speech to the UN.

It was a magnificent speech. Thank god he and not Romney is President.

Pam Green says:

Pamela Geller should have just changed the word ‘savage’ to something less loaded. That word cost her a lot of money and time in court defending her free speech. In some places, her ad campaign was delayed 8 months for that stupid word, and she’s still fighting for it! Doesn’t she know the word ‘savage’ brings to mind colonial anthropology in Africa and South America? What’s wrong with ‘barbarian’?

Pam Green says:

How can you say this? We all know he can talk. Words are cheap.

jacob_arnon says:

I liked it in part because he talked about a “Jewish State of Israel.” I don’t think Bush ever such a comment to an international body.

When a President speaks it’s not “word” Pam. Presidents create presidents and set policy through the use of words. Had he said that something negative about Israel we wouldn’t have said that it’s just words. Well, saying something positive is also not just words.

“The road is hard but the destination is clear – a secure, Jewish state of Israel; and an independent, prosperous Palestine. Understanding that such a peace must come through a just agreement between the parties, America will walk alongside all who are prepared to make that journey.”

Pam Green says:

“Presidents create presidents”..
I think you meant “Presidents create precedents”..

As for your other comments, I understand but I don’t agree. Obama has never lived up to his rhetoric; why would he start in a 2nd term? And I have misgivings about the line: “America will walk alongside ALL who are prepared to make that journey (toward a just agreement between Israel and the Palestinians).” Who’s ALL? Moreover, the Palestinians never lived up to the agreements they already made, so why should Israel make any others? I think Obama’s comments are very threatening.

jacob_arnon says:

Yes, I meant
precedents, thanks for pointing it out.

As for Obama You better hope you are wrong about how he will act in his second term because he is likely to get re-elected.

Personally, I think he very serious about not letting Iran acquire nuclear weapons. No world leader would make the kinds of statements he did in a world forum unless he meant it.

But, we shall see.

Pam Green says:

Your writing things like “Thank god he [Obama] and not Romney is President” is making it more likely that he’ll be re-elected.
