Palestinians on the Temple Mount Disperse As Israeli Police Break Up a Violent Mob(Instagram)

• Israeli riot police had to intervene at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Friday following a mob’s assault on Israeli security guards there. Light injuries were reported. [Times of Israel]

• More troubling reports in the aftermath of the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, suggest that neither the diplomats nor the Libyan militia sent to guard the compound followed protocols. Also previously aired security concerns were not addressed in time. [WaPo]

• Following a ruling in Cologne, Germany, in May that banned circumcision, an amendment to legalize circumcision is being introduced by German Cabinet. The measure will first be discussed next week. [JTA]

• Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates warned against military action on Iran by either the United States or Israel, calling the potential fallout ‘catastrophic.’ [JPost]
