• An informal ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, brokered by Egypt, is tenuously holding following yesterday’s sustained rocket attack on Israel by Hamas and Israel’s destruction of launching cells. [JTA]

• Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has endorsed President Barack Obama for a second term. Meanwhile, the Detroit Press newspaper has endorsed Governor Romney. [Reuters]
