Sundown: Israel Meets With Jordan Over Syria

• Fears of chemical weapons use by the Assad regime in Syria have prompted another meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jordan’s King Abdullah II. According to the report, Israel discussed plans to bombs the Syrian weapons stockpiles, but met with Jordanian resistance about an attack. [Times of Israel]

• Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie has named his lieutenant, Brian Schatz, to succeed Senator Daniel Inouye, who passed away earlier this month. One of the other two candidates for the position was Inouye’s stated pick. [AP]

• Mike Kaplan, who worked with Stanley Kubrick on a number of his films, writes on the similarities between The Master and 2001: A Space Odyssey, both of which he says defy classification. [HuffPo]

• Hours after the Ariel University Center in the West Bank was given official recognition by the IDF, the heads of all Israeli universities (except Bar Ilan, which is affiliated with Ariel) filed a lawsuit in protest of the decision. [JTA]
