• The Women of the Wall had their biggest prayer service at the Kotel to date, with hundreds of participants, including former IDF paratroopers. In addition to ten arrests made following the service, the event was also notable for its lack of police interruptions. [Haaretz]

• Sheldon and Miriam Adelson have given a $50 million donation to the Adelson Education Campus, which houses three Jewish day schools in Las Vegas. Considering the schools serve 600 students, that’s just over $83,000 per kid. [JTA]

• As the fighting reaches the Syrian capital of Damascus, the image of the Assad regime attacking its own base of power has become more real. Apparently, troops loyal to the regime are starting to get drunk. [NYT]

• The Guardian has quite a thorough live blog of Pontiff-related news, including early favorites for the next pope. [Guardian]

• Samuel Freedman writes about a national commercial that portrays a Muslim American as an American ‘everyman’ instead of the conventional typecasts. [NYT]
