We’re picking up on a trend here

Yesterday, on HuffPost Live, I had the opportunity to talk (somewhat coherently) about the natural squeamishness that Jews often feel when facts–like 11% of Congress is Jewish, despite only being 2% of the American population–run up against the world views of bigots and/or anti-Semites, who see facts as fuel for evil conspiracy.

Driving home the point today: A source for the AP (dangerous work these days) says that White House veteran Jason Furman will be nominated by President Obama for the post of chairman of the president’s Council of Economic Advisers.

The council is one of two conduits of economic advice to the president. The other is the National Economic Council, where Furman currently serves as principal deputy director. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the nomination has not been announced.

To review what’s happened recently: Jack Lew (and his janky signature) replaced Timothy Geithner as the Treasury Secretary and, earlier this month, Mike Froman and Penny Pritzker were tapped to fill the last two open Cabinet slots filling out the economic team posts of trade representative and Commerce Secretary, respectively.

How to react to the report?
1. Take a deep breath.
2. Say mazel tov.
