• An Egyptian court has ordered the release of ousted Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak (read Lee Smith’s take on it here). Prosecutors have 48 hours to challenge the ruling. [WSJ]

• Mandy ‘Oh My God How Thrilling’ Patinkin gets the Times Magazine treatment while filming Season 3 of Homeland. He says things like “My grandpa Max the junkman would say in Yiddish, ‘The wheel is always turning.’” Indeed. [NYT]

• An Iron Dome anti-missile battery was deployed near Netanya, north of Tel Aviv and within missile range of Lebanon. The Israeli Air Force has said the move is part of normal testing and operational procedure. [Times of Israel]

• Ethan Kadish, one of three campers at a reform Jewish summer camp in Zionsville, Ind. who was struck by lightning seven weeks ago, will celebrate his bar mitzvah this weekend. Kadish, who suffered immediate cardiac arrest, remains hospitalized for catastrophic brain injury. [JTA]
