Shoshanna to Shiva: Zosia Mamet’s Next Role

The Girls star (and David Mamet offspring) heads back to the big screen

Shoshanna Shapiro: movie star. More precisely, Zosia Mamet, the actress who plays the effervescently naive Shoshanna on HBO’s hit twenty-something dramedy Girls, has signed on to star alongside Jessica Biel (such a Marnie) in an indie thriller called Shiva & May. Mamet will play Shiva, a sex worker and the long-lost sister of Biel’s yoga instructor May. Just stop: you had me at Shiva.

This spring, Mamet took a page from her father’s playbook (!), scoring the lead role in the off-Broadway production of Really, Really. She’ll make her triumphant, post-Kickstarter return to Girls when Season 3 premieres in 2014. Until then, there’s always Blerta:
