For that rare person who needs an excuse to gobble up some drunken goat or aged gouda, we’ve got a great story for you. This month, the esteemed and very well-stocked Murray’s Cheese shop in Greenwich Village is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Founded by a Spanish Civil War vet Murray Greenberg in 1940, Murray’s has changed ownership twice. Now it’s run by writer and cheese enthusiast Rob Kaufelt (otherwise known as the husband of food writer Nina Planck).

Some years back, in honor of the dairy-inclined holiday of Shavuot, the Vox Tablet team took a tour of Murray’s, which you can revisit below. We wish Murray’s a hearty mazel tov on this big birthday, and offer an additional wish for another 75 great years!
