Thirteen minutes past midnight on Saturday, Israeli super-babe Gal Gadot tweeted the first official photo for her upcoming film Wonder Woman, which is set for release in 2017. A cloaked Gadot, equipped with a fierce stare and some cool armour, paired the image with the caption: “Almost 75 years in the making…#WonderWoman is underway.” Directed by Patty Jenkins, the leading lady will star alongside Star Trek’s Chris Pines and House of Cards’ Robin Wright.

But first, Gadot will debut her superhero duds in March 2016 when she appears in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Ben Affleck as billionaire-cum-caped-crusader Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as the superhero with arguably the lamest disguise for his alternate identity, a bespectacled Clark Kent.

Before being cast in the action-packed flick, the 30-year-old former Miss Israel told Interview magazine, “I didn’t want to do the obvious role that you see in Hollywood most of the time, which is the heartbroken girl who’s waiting to be rescued by the guy, blah, blah, blah.”

Clearly, Gadot, who was born in Rosh HaAyin, definitely isn’t subscribing to the whole “damsel in distress” stereotype.
