Welcome to #TrumpWatch, where Tablet will present the daily low-lights of Donald Trump’s attempt to use the dark forces of bigotry to become President.

On Monday, Louis Farrakhan—the notoriously anti-Semitic African-American leader of the Nation of Islam who once said “that many Jews received a text message not to come to work on September 11″—praised the Republican frontrunner for not taking money from Jews during his sermon at the annual Saviours’ Day at the NOI’s Mosque Maryam in Chicago. (Here’s Part 1 of Farrakhan’s sermon, in case you’re interested.)

Reported the ADL:

…Farrakhan stated that Trump “is the only member who has stood in front of the Jewish community, and said I don’t want your money. Any time a man can say to those who control the politics of America, ‘I don’t want your money,’ that means you can’t control me. And they cannot afford to give up control of the presidents of the United States.”

However, Farrakhan also distanced himself from a full endorsement of Trump stating, “Not that I’m for Mr. Trump, but I like what I’m looking at.”

This year, in addition to his comments about Trump representing a break from the supposedly other Jewish-controlled presidential candidates, Farrakhan also blamed Jews, which he refers to as the “Synagogue of Satan” for the Iraq War and 9/11.

With that in mind, I would like to point your attention to another article published Monday on The Daily Beast, in which writer Lloyd Grove details the plight of The Federalist writer Bethany S. Mandel, “a pugnacious online presence who frequently crosses swords with self-avowed acolytes of the Republican presidential frontrunner,” namely from Breitbart News, a Trump-loving website.

It is entirely predictable that, among other news outlets—including The Drudge Report, The New York Times and The Washington Post—the Twitter feeds of Mandel’s Trump-fan assailants often include links to stories on Breitbart News, and even to audio clips from Breitbart News Daily, the SiriusXM satellite radio program hosted by Breitbart executive chairman Stephen K. Bannon and Breitbart News editor in chief Alex Marlow.

Her denouncements of Donald John Trump, inspired by her desire to leave her kids with a world worth living in, have brought upon her insults so vicious that she’s bought a gun—a .22 magnum revolver—for protection.

Yet one can hardly fault Mandel’s feelings of vulnerability. Typical online insults (screenshots of which she provided to The Daily Beast) included “you deserve the oven,” complete with the image of a Domino’s Pizza oven—this from an apparent Trump fan who goes by the Twitter handle @dinguscout.

After Mandel observed: “Another night blocking all the anti-Semites who are helping Trump make American[sic] great again,” a second apparent Trump supporter, @unusr1, tweeted at her: “Missed one, you slimy Jewess.”
