Pit Bull Punim Are the Best. Just Ask Patrick Stewart.

The actor and his wife are fostering a pit bull named Ginger. Her wrinkly face has apparently inspired some Yiddish in their household.

A certain colleague of mine, a dog lover herself, recently passed along a fun Buzzfeed post highlighting the new pit bull named Ginger that Patrick Stewart and his wife, Sunny Ozell, are fostering. Like most social media focused on pets, their budding love of Ginger is cute as hell.

In one clip, below, Ozell rubs Ginger’s soft, wrinkly face and appears to say, “What is this? What is this punim?”

It’s unclear whether or not Ozell is Jewish, which might have inspired her use of Yiddish. (She did tell Sir Stewart that he was not circumcised, much to the surprise of Professor X himself, take that as you will.) But it doesn’t/shouldn’t matter. What matters is that yes, pit bulls do have fantastic punims; most dogs do. And most dogs, believe it or not, are in need of good homes to rest their furry heads.

Ginger found one with Stewart and Ozell. There’s a pool and plump couches there. Now she gets to have her face rubbed and get Yiddish sweet nothings spoken into her ear. It’s bashert. Who’s next?
