On our sister site, Trump’s visit to Israel, Girl Scouts and the Catholic Church, caffeinated bagels, and Netflix’s new series about an all-female wrestling circuit

It’s been one heck of a week, hasn’t it? It’s hard to even keep up with the stranger-than-fiction drama coming out of Washington. So I don’t judge you if you want a break from political news, and this week on Jewcy we’ve tried to steer clear of it. Still, Jewcy hasn’t avoided it completely: How could we resist discussing the fact that President Trump canceled his trip to Masada because Israel won’t let his helicopter land there? It’s sort of amazing. Who knew Trump would be so anti-cable-car…?

Other than that, no politics. Well, unless you count this opinion piece supporting Girl Scouts in the face of recent condemnation from the Catholic Church. (Two archdioceses explicitly call out Betty Friedan and Gloria Steinem, two great Jewish feminists, as being anti-Catholic.)

But arguably, the most political thing on Jewcy this week is actually a consideration of “espresso bagels”—bagels with caffeine baked right into the dough. I come down hard on the “against” side. I never said the site wasn’t partisan.

After all that (and the mainstream news), if you want a palette cleanser (because it’s not going to be that bagel; ew), I’d recommend reading either our interview with Alexis Michelle, a Jewish contestant on this season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, or watching the trailer for Netflix’s GLOW, which stars Alison Brie and Marc Maron and is about women’s professional wrestling (and looks great).

Hey! both of those TV series involve a lot of glitter. So roll around in glitter for awhile. You’ll feel better.
