Daybreak: Land Blockade Eased

Plus U.S. congressmen take on Turkey, and more

Print Email

• Israel announced it will “liberalize” its land blockade of Gaza, significantly easing the importation of many things. Its naval blockade will stay. [NYT]

• The U.S. Treasury Department blacklisted several new organizations related to Iran’s energy sector, Revolutionary Guard Corps, and more, to complement the new sanctions passed last week. [LAT]

• Yet about those just-passed energy sanctions: They would be easily circumvented (should President Obama sign them) via the black market, a report says. [WSJ]

• And speaking of energy, that super-massive natural gas field off the coast of northern Israel keeps looking bigger. But it could provide for conflict with Lebanon, which may claim part of it. [UPI/Vos Iz Neias?]

• Several bipartisan congresspersons lambasted Turkey yesterday at a press conference, blaming it for the nine deaths in the flotilla incident. [JPost]

• Want to visit a permanent Hezbollah museum? They’ve got you covered. [WSJ]

Dorothy Wachsstock says:

If we had a republican Pres., Turkey would still be our ally and not involved with Iranian militants.

Unfortunately, since our current Pres. is Jimmy Carter, #2 (Carter is Obama’s advisor thus the same results but worse) Iran is laughing at us and spitting in our face and so is Europe.

Americans are holding their breath as this Pres is giving the go ahead to Iran to develope Nuclear weapons and eliminate Israel.

Just as he lied about being concerned about the people affected by the oil disaster in the Gulf, as he played golf, partied, went to fundraisers etc…so he is concerned about the people in this country.

If the decent democrats continue to go along with Pres. Obama to destroy the United States, they will soon be one of the millions looking for a job.

Marty Janner says:

After reading the comments of the previous reply, it is unbelievable that any person of due conscience would have the capacity to rant and rave so many specious statements!

She is spewing verbeage that would be appropriate for Joe McCarthy or Congress Woman Bachmann. We in America are confronted with many issues, that have not been answered by previous administrations.

I would strongly suggest she take a deep breath and keep her cool!

Annette Smith says:

Dorothy, How do you presume to think you know these things? You are just spouting the usual right wing propaganda fantasies. /as Marty says, this is a complex world, and at least we have a President who has the intelligence to understand that solutions are complex and require more than just a hair trigger response to everything.
