You’ve all heard the rumor, that Hitler’s paternal grandfather was Jewish. But a new DNA study shows that … well, actually, that Hitler did likely have some Jewish heritage. Specifically, a Belgian scientist and a Belgian journalist tested the saliva of 39 of the Führer’s relatives and found one chromosome—Haplogroup E1b1b1, since you ask—which is traceable back to both Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews.

At the very least, the result seems to demonstrate that Hitler was of mixed race, which was pretty much a no-no by itself, as I recall. “This is a surprising result,” said a Belgian geneticist. “Hitler would not have been happy.” Oh noes!

    I would bet all Germans have some Jewish ancestry since Jews have been living there for over 1500 years. A German today would have 2^40 = 1 099 511 627 776 (over 1 trillion) 40th-generation ancestors (with overlap), which is many times the population of the world, so the odds that 1 of those 1 099 511 627 776 was Jewish is pretty high. Especially when you consider there have been a reasonable number of converts and probably a few intermarriages over the years.

    How much Jew he is is a different story, maybe a geneticist would have a better answer.

    The DNA results are actually still found in Austria.

    There is NO concrete evidence Hitler had ANY jewish ancestry.

    He was not mixed race.

    He was a pure Ethnic German (Austrian being his Nationality).
