Today in Tablet Magazine, books critic Adam Kirsch reviews Man Booker-winner Howard Jacobson’s 1999 novel The Mighty Walzer, which is among other things certainly the greatest novel about ping-pong ever written. Though Jacobson may have justifiably tired of them, Kirsch says, the Philip Roth comparisons truly are unavoidable and apt; but they do no embarrassment to Jacobson’s own insight and hilarity.
