• Iran has accepted an EU request for more nuclear talks, though it’s not clear when. [AP/WP]

• A senior Syrian official expressed confidence that the regime’s crackdown on what has been a nearly two-month-long uprising would prove sucessful. [NYT]

Perhaps in solidarity with those whose voices were silenced by the mob, Tony Kushner could read the text of the speech Martin Peretz intended to give at Harvard.

It is unbelievable how the West is lulled into paralysis every time the Iranians say they want to negotiate – and of course each time nothing happens – and of course in the meantime Iran continues to advance its nuclear programme.
This is naïveté pushed to its extremes.
