• The Middle East Quartet, meeting this afternoon in Washington, is expected to formally endorse President Obama’s “1967 borders with land-swaps” formulation. [Haaretz]
• Iran announced that earlier this year, for the first time, it test-fired missiles that could reach Israel into the Indian Sea. [JPost]
• A dialogue held by the Syrian regime was pretty one-sided given that opposition figures boycotted it due to the ongoing violent suppression. [NYT]
• Egypt has extended Israeli-American law student Ilan Grapel’s detention (on espionage allegations) beyond the usual 15 days, purportedly in order to collect more information. [Haaretz]
• Police accuse former Israeli President Moshe Katsav of hiring two private investigators to harass a witness in the rape case against him, in which he was convicted and which he has appealed. [AP/WP]
• Fascinating: An ultra-Orthodox rabbinic court rules that descendants of Majorcan Jews, or chuetas, are legally Jewish due to the Spanish island’s unusual insularity and isolation and the community’s remarkable collective memory. [IHT]
