“Yiddish is a blunt instrument.” So writes Neal Gabler in his introduction to an excerpt, published today in Tablet Magazine, from Yiddishkeit. It’s a book of comics, co-edited by and with contributions from the late, great Harvey Pekar, who showed that even in English, “Yiddishkeit” could come through, hit you over the head, and knock you out cold.
