Jane Jacobs’ enormously brilliant and influential The Death and Life of Great American Cities came out 50 years ago. Today in Tablet Magazine, Jason Epstein, who published that magnum opus (and most of Jacobs’ subsequent output), remembers her own life and death, including her legendary battle royale with the New York city planner Robert Moses.
