A group of Jews created the concept of “human rights” for the new international organization called the United Nations in order to protect Jews everywhere, only, as Samuel Moyn explains today in Tablet Magazine, to watch as the Holocaust and the rest of World War Two harnessed their energy and instead vested the U.N. with the power to protect states, not individuals—a power that would create a single state for Jews and, potentially, a single state for Palestinians.
