Anti-Structure, not Anti-Semitic

In a sense, Occupy Wall Street can neither be anti-Semitic nor (as the Anti-Defamation League wishes) denounce anti-Semitism, because it is by definition a leaderless, structureless organization. And that, notes columnist Michelle Goldberg today in Tablet Magazine, is part of the problem: if the movement hopes to grow, it needs some ability to speak with one voice so that, today, it can denounce anti-Semitism and so that, tomorrow, it can advocate specific policies it would like to see enacted. In the meantime, Goldberg’s reporting has found that the actual anti-Semites make up an exceedingly small proportion of the protesters, greatly outnumbered by proud Jews who have incorporated Judaism into their cause.
