Today in Tablet Magazine, in his weekly “Arbiter” column, Liel Leibovitz revisits the Velvet Underground’s seminal, eponymous debut album and its classic epic, “Heroin,” which turns out to be great for all kinds of activities. Only the Jew (Lou Reed), the Catholic (Andy Warhol), and the Episcopalian (John Cale), all lapsed, could have created this, Leibovitz argues.
