• The price-taggers may have finally gone too far: about 50 settlers vandalized a West Bank IDF base last night, prompting harsh condemnation and an emergency meeting from the government. [JPost]

• President Obama asked the Iranians for the U.S. drone, more porridge. [LAT]

• The planned relocation of West Bank Bedouins is prompting international concerns on Israeli designs on their current land. [WP]

• All those hugely anti-democratic bills some Israeli politicians are trying to pass? President Shimon Peres is “ashamed” of them, too. [AP/WP]

• David Mamet does his thing on Israel. Something about the binding of Isaac. [WSJ]

• The U.N.’s death toll for Syria has passed 5,000. [NYT]

    Netanyahu and the hard right have themselves to blame for this hooliganism….the freeze of illegal settlements should have been enacted and officially implemented a generation ago. These are the very brand of bully that spawned Yigal Amir.

    Peres says he regards the bills as undemocratic to which you declare them to be “hugely anti-democratic”. Quite a jump from the old socialist who dreams of the bund and the good old days of Labor dominance and you declaring ex-cathedra that the bills are hugely undemocraqtic. Rubbish. What does democracy have to do with the “right” of foreign governments to finance anti government activity? How would you feel if the USSR supported Communist activity in the U.S? They did and I can assure you that this country responded very strongly against it. Subversion is what is occuring. The call to prayer deosn’t require loudspeakers in the middle of the night. You really have no idea what democracy is all about. You use these words just to attack the Israeli government which you don’t like. Only one problem-it was DEMOCRATICALLY elected. You see, to the left this is a problem. They just can’t understand how the stupid population votes against them. Maybe one year they’ll figure it out.
