Winner gets a free Nextbook Press book appropriate to his or her comment (if he or she emails me at [email protected] with his or her mailing address).

This week we have two winners who commented consecutively on Shmarya Rosenberg’s essay about Christopher Hitchens, pork, and organized religion. Part of Rosenberg’s case concerns the fact that pigs are unusually inteligent animals, and Deborah Morris informed us, “the Polynesian/Maori term for human flesh consumed by cannibals is ‘long pig.’ ” Immediately thereafter, “Spinoza” suggested, “Just say no to pork. Haven’t you people seen Babe?”

We do and we have. They each get a copy of Joseph Telushkin’s Hillel: If Not Now, When? because the great rabbi would surely have enjoyed this discussion.
