As a new season dawns, Ian Kinsler has negotiated a whopping 75 million dollar five-year contract to stay with the Texas Rangers making him, at least for now, the highest paid second basemen in history. In his first six major league seasons, Kinsler averaged .275 at bat–.010 higher than the Jewish average (as of 2002) which, as Scroll readers know, is higher than the general average.

In less auspicious news for Jewish baseball players, Kevin Youkilis and the Boston Red Sox got absolutely demolished by the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. It’s going to be a fun season.
