This week in Tablet Magazine, Akiva Gottlieb profiled conservative firebrand David Horowitz. David Sugarman bought bootlegged kosher wine from Skver Hasidim in Montreal. Marjorie Ingall “advised” parents that they should by no means read to their children. Samantha M. Shapiro considered the work of a compelling photographer whose name we’ll not try to spell. And Peter Ephross looked back over the history of anti-Semitism in Major League Baseball—and of Jewish ballplayers who fought back.

On The Scroll, we honored Benzion Netanyahu, 102, and Adam Yauch, 47. Peter Beinart and Daniel Gordis debated. We consulted David Makovsky and others on the likelihood of Israeli elections in September, and how those in turn affect the likelihood of an attack on Iran. Laura Secor chatted about what Iran is like on the ground, and Dolph Schayes talked NBA playoffs, Amar’e Stoudemire, and even baseball. Jews are leaving Congress! Attention was once again paid to Peter Beinart’s The Crisis of Zionism, though it’s not clear if we are the ones who were supposed to be paying the most attention. There are even stupider ways to criticize President Obama, if you try really hard. France has its own Abraham Foxman, and Egypt has its own Marine Le Pen. And we celebrated the heritages of Jewish and Asian-Pacific Americans, as well as their heritage of celebrating each other.
