Do you have a family recipe for a great Rosh Hashanah dessert? Do you long for your grandmother’s apple pie? Your dad’s baklawa? Your mom’s honey cake? Tablet magazine is seeking submissions of family recipes for Rosh Hashanah desserts. Now’s your chance to share your fantastic recipe with the world. And get published. And paid.

We are looking for previously unpublished recipes from writers living anywhere in the world who have never published in Tablet before. We’re looking for diversity. We love interesting takes on common dishes, and unique recipes we’ve never heard of! These should be family recipes, not recipes that were taken or adapted from cookbooks. (Please ask your family members about the recipes to be sure!) Writers can be from any background or perspective, but there should be a reason why your recipe, and story belongs in Tablet Magazine, a Jewish magazine about the world. And while we are fans of a wide range of desserts, this time we’re partial to desserts that might have special meaning at Rosh Hashanah.

We’d like to help you think about these long-lost recipes, empower you to talk to your relatives, document the recipes, submit them to Tablet, and tell us where they come from, and why they’re meaningful to you. Three finalists will have the chance for their recipe to be made and photographed by Micah Siva, a trained chef, registered dietitian, recipe writer, and food photographer, specializing in modern Jewish cuisine. The winning recipe will earn $250, two finalists will win $100, and all three recipes will be published in Tablet. For questions, please contact [email protected].
