Tablet’s Sinai Society is a network of people invested in the revitalization of a communal agenda for the future, one rooted in Jewish tradition as well as the enrichment of American society and Western civilization.

Sustain a vital journalistic institution at the heart of Jewish and American cultural, political, social and intellectual life.
Tablet was started in 2009 with the ambition to create a niche publication: a proudly Jewish, openly highbrow magazine. Bucking the internet trends of that era, which stressed the importance of lowering bars for entry, we sought to hold down a fort for intellectual and aesthetic excellence--a small, niche journal for a narrow group of highbrow readers.
What we didn’t expect was that Tablet’s first decade would coincide with American journalism falling apart at the seams, draining our lives of coverage of everything from culture to religion to real-world threats to Jewish communities around the world, right at the moment when it was needed most. Without trying, Tablet staff began filling that vacuum.
Fifteen years later, we’ve built a publication marked by rigor and seriousness, but also bravery and creativity—one now widely considered, in the words of novelist and screenwriter Walter Kirn, “the single-best magazine in America.” As broad as our scope of exploration gets, and as urgent and forward-looking as our coverage remains, we are fundamentally anchored by a history and a tradition bigger than any one moment.

Sinai Society members are a critical foundation to Tablet. The high level of engagement and personal involvement—whereby members interact directly with the people responsible for producing Tablet and its many constituent programs, and collaborate on the identification and support of a set of priorities—offers a genuinely transformational giving experience.
Sinai Society contributions directly support Tablet’s innovative editorial pursuits, and members receive access to exclusive benefits, including:
- Invitations to private events including Sinai Society Salons, the annual Sinai Awards dinner, book launches, and more. Plus of course reserved tickets and early access to public Tablet events.
- Insider knowledge on projects: be the first to know about projects we’re working on at Tablet and gain access to special naming rights and unique collaboration and partnership opportunities.
- Access to Tablet’s editorial team with access to annual retreat with Tablet editorial team and guests and custom support from research team
