Cochini Dosha

Cochini Dosha

One of Israel’s well-known traditions is “the great trip to the East” that young adults take after completing their army service—whether it’s to “find themselves” in ashrams, lie on the beach in Goa, or smoke weed all day far from their parents’ observing eyes. This tradition is one of the reasons Israelis think they know all about India (the other being the fact that Israelis think they know all about everything). But many Israelis don’t know that Jews have a history in India that dates back to antiquity.

Ingredients

  • 8cups flour
  • 1cup oil
  • 2eggs
  • 1Tablespoon salt
  • 2level Tablespoons of sugar
  • 2Tablespoons vinegar
  • 1Tablespoon dry yeast
  • Water as needed

Preparation

  • Step 1

Mix the liquids: water, oil, vinegar, and eggs.

  • Step 2

Add the salt and sugar while stirring.

  • Step 3

Gradually add the flour and stir it into the mixture. If the dough is too dense, add water to have the desired density. The density should be similar a pancake dough’s density.

  • Step 4

Finally, add the yeast and continue to stir until the mixture is smooth.

  • Step 5

Let the dough swell for a while.

  • Step 6

After the dough is swelled, fry it like pancake in a slightly oiled pan.
