Though fears of tropical storm Isaac (the most talked about since biblical days) delayed the official start of the Republican National Convention, Tablet’s correspondent Yair Rosenberg would not be deterred. Rosenberg, who landed in Tampa last night, will be Tablet’s man on the ground at the convention, reporting on all things Jewish from the biggest GOP party since, well, the summer of 2008.

Who’s who at morning minyan? How do the kosher food options stack up? Will there be any Yiddish curses hurled at Jewish Republicans? Rosenberg’s got you covered.

A regular Tablet contributor, he’s written more than a few stories that have gone gangbusters, including this one about the country’s attitude toward Mitt Romney’s Mormonism, and this one debunking the notion that Barack Obama is the most anti-Israel president in American history. Turns out, they said the same about Ronald Reagan.

Look out for Rosenberg’s stories here, on the Scroll, and also for his longer features. First up: Read this fascinating profile of Rabbi Meir Soloveichik, scion of one of Orthodoxy’s most famous dynasties, who is delivering the convention’s opening invocation. The 35-year-old superstar rabbi is also on the very short list for next chief rabbi of Britain.

Stay tuned for more from the convention, and follow along with Rosenberg on Twitter for the latest.
